Some people are never happy!
« on: September 16, 2021, 02:58:05 PM »
Especially tree huggers!!   Must hurt running around like a bunch of Chicken Little's!!   They shut down the logging industry, claim fires are natures way of making healthy forest, act like socialist(stay out of OUR forest) YET live in wood homes and use TP religiously!!  And sometimes start forest fires with TP!  Some book told tree huggers that is what you are suppose to do out in THEIR forest!

Remember when that used to be such a neat valley timberfaller, Winthrop was an actual town and not a tourist destination, the old house coming into town(can't remember the guys name) with the big sign out front that greeted everyone coming across the bridge that read "God, Guts and Guns are what made this country great" (now its some sort of quilt factory or something :dunno:) and when leaving town at the other end was the old John Wayne building. Loggers, ranchers and real cowboys doing their thing on the daily. Now its been taken over by hippies, tree huggers, anti hunters, anti loggers and "skinny skiers" as jingles likes to call em. Yep, a real shame, but hey you can get lattes, ice cream cones and real expensive stuff there now. I sure do miss the old Winthrop/Methow.

unfortunately the methow valley is way too close the the west side so they just melt over the hill and take over an area.  It’s happening to Ellensburg too.  And obviously Suncadia area already.

Now your talking. I complained about that last year. Like to see that review. How can they ok putting a trail straight down the slope to Coal Creek and not think that going to wash down in the creek.
There’s a old guy that lives down the creek that gets his water from Coal creek. We set in camp and watched groups of 15-20 riding the ridge and plunging down to the creek. I don’t know how they get away with that crap.

I've hugged a lot of tree's, with steel falling dogs and sang Trump's show song as they fell!!  Money Money Money Monnnnny!! :chuckle:

My mom, bless her heart, back in the mid 90's found a bumper sticker and gave it to me.  Said, "Hug a Logger, You'll never go back to tree's!"    She knew what she was talking about!

Just heard some good news for ATV-ers!!!   Group had a shouting match at Harts Pass over being up there enjoying their ride with the local USFS!   Told it got pretty heated for about 30 minutes.  Radio call to someone in the Wenatchee office set them straight!

The Methow district got put on notice, as long as there is a green plate on a ATV, its is allowed!  The "apology's" were flowing out of the USFS people!  The lying and dis-information has come to an end over ATV use by district employee's and Ranger, finally!

There’s some real winners that work for the circus and avoid finding common ground. Quite sad what a lot of districts have become across the west with the leadership and lots of workers sleeping with environmental wack jobs.

Outstanding news now just need something at least semi official in writing so I can quit carrying the undoctored Travel Management Plan that the local district took a felt tip and blacked put where if an ATV is licensed for roads it is authorized for forest service roads.
Had a couple run ins myself with FS personnel about that and kinda semi politely told them that a pen and ink change to an official published document does not make those changes official they have to republish the document.
The Forest Service  actions are driven by Conservation Northwest and MVCC Methow Valley Citizens Committee (locally referred to by many) as Methow Valley Communist Council

So can you guys explain this in Layman's terms for those who don't know? What's a green plate? Where can you go and not go on USFS lands etc? Just a quick synopsis.

Many loggers' businesses in my 2nd wife's family were ruined by the NF moratorium on logging in the late 80s. Since then, as we know, the forests have ceased to be healthy and provide forage for wildlife. How can these idiots be taken seriously with the evidence of the destruction they and people before them have caused in our forests? The USDA through the forest service is spending 10s of millions now slowly thinning small patches of forest. I don't understand why they won't admit the mistakes of the past and let the loggers do their work.  :dunno:

I certainly could be wrong
Mine says restricted vehicle and I have on road and off-road tabs
Regardless the whole thing has been confusing
Once I had a fish cop say your not planning on using that up there right ?
I said yea I was, it’s street legal
He says yea see that little white sign on the cattle guard
It’s says no ATV/ORVs in Okanogan national forest
I said great glad I wasted the money to street legal kit it
Thanks

"He says yea see that little white sign on the cattle guard
It’s says no ATV/ORVs in Okanogan national forest"  quote from Madmax

You should start to see those coming down, after what transpired at Harts Pass.  Some USFS "people" took the word from a former LEO in their mist(employee) as the LAW.  They got straightened out at Harts Pass.   City of Winthrop should be next in line for the TRUTH!

The only way these clowns will get their desire of NO ATV'S, they will have to raise the speed limits on "our" roads they control!

Washington Green plates are Washington Restricted Use plates depending on what your ATV is equipped  with makes it either street legal and you can get an ON ROAD sticker for your plate or if not street legal all you can get is an OFF ROAD sticker.
As far as where you can go on FS roads I quote from the Okanogan National Forest Travel Plan
"If your Off Highway Vehicle is licensed to operate on public roads or highways, then it can operate on National Forest system roads open to highway vehicles."

"If your OHV is not licensed, it may be used only on roads that are blocked with rocks, trees or earthen barriers and not open for passenger cars or trucks. Be sure that the blocked road is not shown on the Okanogan  National Forest Travel Plan Map as closed to all motorized vehicle use or closed on the ground with a written order"

What this (Methow) District did was take a felt tip pen and black out that first part that I quoted and called it their official Travel Plan. Anyone that has worked for the government and is familar with getting official documents published knows if there is a mistake, as this District claims that was, the document does not go to press and get published and disseminated to the public

According to a letter requesting an investigation by a member of Congress I was told what this District was in fact illegal.

And to clarify why the Green Plate says Restricted is because even though the ATV is street legal it is Restricted to roads where the speed limit is 35MPH or less unless otherwise posted as are some roads in Ferry and portions of Okanogan Counties

Street legal for side by side also means a different title from the state AND a valid Insurance card with proper coverage.  Can't speak about quads.  Two different tags on green plate.
