Best E collar?
« on: November 29, 2021, 07:00:00 PM »
I hunt a lot in salt water, looking for a collar that’s not going to bite the dust. Sport dog 825x and 1825x are on my radar. I have no need for more than 1 collar. Just need it waterproof. No competitions, just your basic marsh and mud flat retrieves. Occasionally a long one but not to often. Never more than a few hundred yards

Ive owned several sport dogs and think they are a great bang for the buck. Consider buying them from Double U supply. they are a Washington business. They advertise on here AND they put up money to support sportsmen fighting to save our sport. They should at least earn a look and strong consideration for a purchase

I have two Dogtras and hunt salt and fresh water.  Both have been very reliable and plenty of range.  I have a 1900S and a 200C.  For my dog, either would work as I only need vibrate.  The 200C has a smaller and more streamlined collar which is kind of nice.  The 1900S has an annoying green flashing light that I cover up with tape.  Battery life is great, no complaints other than the flashing green light.

Well i ordered the dogtra 1900s before anyone responded. Glad to hear you have had good luck with them in the salt water too!

My dog almost swam to Japan once, so range was an important consideration.  As far as I know that duck is still making their getaway.

Lol! I was screaming the other day at mine. Going after a ghost duck I had shot at. He’s young so he thinks every time I shoot a duck should be out there. He responds really well to his collar at home. I usually just have to beep him, but maybe the vibrate will work in the same way. It’s just a cheap one though I need something for the field that will last

The 1900s has been awesome so far. My dog is a whole different animal. Much more enjoyable for the both of us. I feel like he knows what’s not ok and what his job is now and he’s even more into it.

You can't go wrong with the Dogtra Edge RT. That's what we have and no issues in the 4 years we've had it. I'm sure the sportdog has improved over the years, but past experience was not good.

I’ve got the 1900s as well. It’s what the trainer recommended and used. No complaints or issues after a year of abuse.

Use collars every day. Got a dogtra from a rep. Batteries took a crap fast. Have 3 Garmin 550s. If you want the best get Garmin. For not the best others work OK for random use.
