Does anyone know how to get ahold of Todd peyser, I have 3 deer that he has had for 5 years and would just like to get my horns back, I’ve called his cell phone but mail box is full and he won’t respond to my texts… I’ve heard every excuse in the book as to why there not done. Any help would be appreciated

This guy is a joke. I also texted about a week ago no response. I have been getting excuses of- tanneries are closed, behind, slow, etc. have animals there going on 4 years next Feb. I just want my deposits back at this point.

I dropped a cape off a big blacktail and a deposit in 2015 to a different taxidermist. Touched bases with him for two or three years, then radio silence. I'm sure glad I didn't leave him the antlers. I'm sure someone could guess who.

That sucks! Posts like these always make me a lil nervous about Taxi work. I get life happens and guys get backed up. But just like anything it only takes one bad apple.

If he has had your deer for five years and now won't respond, I would involve law enforcement. Sound like theft and fraud to me.

Taxidermist are becoming a lost breed. The good ones are overworked with limited help.  This cultivates bad apples getting into the market to undercut the good guys.  The bad apples get customers lining up at their doors because they are 50-100 dollars cheaper......and whammo.....the scam happens.  Antlers, hide, deposit and unmotivated, unskilled taxi's equals years of nothing. 

My take away.....
1.  Do your homework
2.  never leave the antlers with a taxi until they are ready to work on your animal. 
3.  a contract is a requirement....cost, time frame, signatures, etc.
4.  you get what you pay for.

Good taxidermist should charge a premium so they can afford to hire help.....it is is business.  If a person is not wiling to pay a premium, they can gamble with the competition. 

Way to many stories year after year exactly like yours.  I too fell victim at one point....and won't ever let that happen again.  I hope you get your animals back....I personally would be knocking on doors.

The situation is beyond ridiculous at this point.

I know a guy that's been waiting for 5-6+ years on a simple shoulder mount for a giant 220" muley.

The best thing he can do at this point is to:

• Give everything back to customers (or at least those that want their stuff back).
• Have them eat their deposits, just like they would in a bankruptcy.
• Take the lump to his personal and professional reputation
• Just focus on rebuilding from scratch

Yep, it sucks for his customers that have been waiting in limbo to have lose their deposits to start over with another taxidermist, and the hit to his reputation also sucks...but can it really get any worse at this point?

Even when you think you have done your homework you can get screwed.
Took a bobcat I got with my dad to a taxidermist and half down to boot, for a full size mount. He was well known on this site and thought to be trust worthy. Its been 9 years and doesn't return any calls or emails.
You never know for sure.

If you figure out a way to get ahold of him, let me know. I had a cougar I just wanted tanned, no mount.  It’s been three and a half years and haven’t heard a thing.

Maybe get ahold of wdfw...
They license the taxi's.
Maybe enforcement could do a business check. Paperwork, possession of antlers etc...

Definitely some civil litigation options but there gets a point when it's just plain *censored* ..
