Big blacktail big antelope
« on: March 25, 2023, 07:00:10 PM »
Been pretty busy, like every taxidermist in western WA. I wanted to share a couple of my recent favorite pieces. I feel blessed to do what I love!

Beautiful taxidermy! What is your turnaround on mounts right now and are you taking new clients?

If I remember right I believe that’s a Thurston county blacktail. Right now I am at about 18 months turn around. Been working to get it back down to 12 months but it’s been pretty tough going. I am trying not to take any new clients unless they really like my work and are ok with a longer than normal turn around.

Beautiful mounts!  That Blacktail is one fine lookin' deer!

Gary
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

next up, sorry for the attire, I actually made a bad shot on him two days ago, all day I searched yesterday, and nothing, using onyx I started grid tracking/trailing, searching. I was not gonna go out today, but a friend came home from elk hunting to watch his boy play football this evening, and on my way home from work he asked me to meet him at his place, he had a couple hours to help me look. We jumped him out of his bed and he walked a couple steps and turned to look back at us, this time the shot was true….my heart was at ease now knowing it was not a wasted animal……. Alicia what pose for this 7x7 drop tine BT
