Yeah
It’s a state.
Point?

Here is the info I found on NM and points.

In New Mexico, the big game drawing system operates without a preference or bonus point system. Here are the key details:

Quota System: New Mexico’s big game drawing is subject to a quota system. This means that the number of available tags for each hunt is predetermined, and applicants participate in a random draw to secure those tags1.
Equal Chance: Unlike some other states, New Mexico does not have any type of point system. All tags are issued via a random draw, and all applicants—whether they are residents, nonresidents, or outfitters—have the same chance to draw a tag2.
Draw Pools: Each hunt in New Mexico allocates 84% of tags to residents. The remaining 16% are split among non-residents and guided applicants3.

Same here.   Was swinging for the fence though, so didn’t expect much.

I drew a December muzzy elk hunt in unit 51. This will be my first time hunting in New Mexico. Can't wait.
