So some guys are saying that most of the hens were bred the 1st 2 weeks of April, and others are saying that it hasn't happened yet.... which is it?
Three of us hunted last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Toms were all fired up Friday evening roosting. Saturday morning was mediocre and two out of three of us got our long beards. Eerily quiet on the Saturday roost. Then early morning Sunday, the wind picked up and the temperature plummeted and Sunday Morning was another quiet one. Surprisingly, we saw two moose and elk where we hunted and lots of whitetail deer. Seemed like it was the season for big game, rather than a turkey hunt.

I was just talking with someone and I told them I think I saw kore whitetails hunting Colville area than turkeys! I really saw a ton, it seemed abnormal, in a good way. The ones I saw were healthy too!

Always a lot of WT but now the worry is all about blue tongue this year with the looming drought issue. Not good, it’s so dry…
Any recommendations on a taxidermist between Spokane and Colville that will do a fan/beard/spur mount? Tried myself last year and, besides the fan being beat to crap hiking it out a few miles (lesson learned there) we just never got the feathers spread properly and looking decent.

Then put borax on the base of the quills for a week or two and it should hold good.

Till I had enough bondo to hold the fan together.Seen it on some YouTube or something. That way no tissue at all.But its very tricky to get all the feathers to hold still ,while putting bondo on . You have to have someone hold them,or set heavy objects on them.Bondo dry so quick, you really only got one shot at it.So you better have em laid out the way you want.If interested....Look it up on YouTube, probably better tutorial then me there.

It's always worked for me but I've never done the bondo method. Just pin and let it dry out naturally and it'll hold forever.
