Cougar information
« on: November 10, 2025, 10:22:38 PM »
I will take any chance I get to sit in a tree with my bow, but I’ve never had any experience with cougars. I had at least 4 on my cameras during September and October, is that data worth chasing? Or are the cats just moving through? I understand they have a very large home range, but is there any way to pattern them and actually have a shot at poking one with an arrow?

I couldn’t agree more. I would have had some great calling opportunities over the last month.

Even though they have a large range, if there are a lot of game animals where your cameras are, there is a good chance the cat will hang in that area thinning the herd before moving on. I can go years without getting a cat picture, but when I do get a picture of one, I usually get pictures of the cat or cats for 3-4 months before they move on. Unfortunately, I now have less animals in my area to hunt when this occurs. Good luck.
