question for the tuning gurus?

Just got a new string and cables set and am trying to set up my 82nd airborne by myself for the first time. I got the string and cables on and my ata is right where it should be 36 1/4" top and bottom tiller come out at 9 1/2", brace height is supposed to be 6 1/8" but it is measuring just under 6 3/8". Am I splitting hairs here? Is there a way it can be fixed? Its going to get a few shots through it tomorrow, then its gonna go on the draw board to check the time/draw length. Any ideas?

I don't have a scale yet so I couldn't tell you, but I had the cables almost completely un-twisted last night and the brace got better but it was still a little more than 1/8" long. Ata was still dead nuts on.

I'd be less inclined to worry about brace height than any of the other things.  As long as your ATA, timing, tiller and draw length are right on, then the bow will still fling an arrow properly.  You just get a bit of free forgiveness, in my opinion.

Thats kind of what I was thinking todd. I'm kinda wondering if my cables are too short. If they are but ata is still on will I loose poundage? I know I need to put it on a scale to find out for sure but I won't be able to get to one for a few days.

Did you measure your new string and cables to see if they are the correct length?

Yea I did, the cables were a little short, I figured they would stretch out a little bit when I put them on the bow. They were really stiff in the serving areas so I'm not sure I got a super accurate measurment

Shoot it about 50 times or more, then measure it.

With out a scale or a draw board to measure draw length it will be tough to know how close you are.  I would worry more about draw weight, draw length and timing than any of the other specs.  There is some tolerance there for those specs.

I have a draw board and timing and draw are spot on.

If draw weight is good then I wouldn't worry about the little bit you are off on the rest.

That is what I figured you meant.  So get it on a scale and if it is close then you are good to go.

My opinion is that draw weight doesn't matter in tuning except for matching arrows to the bow.  Too short of cables compensated for by lengthening the string will result in too long of a draw length, and that's not too good.  You've got a good draw length, timing, and ATA, so by my line of thinking you're all set.  All that's left is fine tuning.

I agree draw weight doesn't matter in tuning but if he has 70lb limbs and they are only pulling 62 then something is off even with the specs as close as they are.  My Guardian and now Destroyer 340 both are close to 3/4" long on draw length with all other specs being close including draw weight.
