I was curious, if it is worth trying to continue to track a bear that has spotted/busted you? Or is it a self defeating hike that will last for miles? Would it be better to just come back another day when the bear thinks your long gone? Or will they not come back for a long time to that area?
Does staying on them like that yield results, or just getting lost in the woods?  :chuckle:

Im trying to get into the head of my prey, and understand their habits, and traits for better hunting success. Most every moment Im not working on my studies has been spent researching information about bear behavior, and habits.

A bear that sees you will turn slowly and amble away like nothing happened.  Once he gets where he thinks he's out of sight, then he'll instantly hit high gear and may not stop until the next county.  They'll be back in the same area and routine the next day or 2, but you won't see them again that day.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

I was reading a tree stand trick that makes sense, but I wanted everyones take on it.

Supposedly, if you take a buddy (both of you are descented) and have him help you get setup in your stand (being as quiet as you can of course) the bear if he doesn't see you will hear you, or smell you. Then have your buddy leave. In which case the bear will be more relaxed supposedly thinking that you have left the area (while you are still sitting in your stand. And as a double fold + your buddy will know where to start looking if you don't come home that night.

we used that trick on the bigger smarter bears when it was legal to bait but the young bears would sometime try to push your but off the pile  :chuckle:. wouldnt have a clue if it would work without the use of bait  :twocents:
my grandpa always said "if it aint broke dont fix it"
