Mt. Spokane B tag
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:18:13 PM »
I got another Mt. Spokane B tag this year. Its been nice, I've gotten two deer a year for the last four year I think, every year that they have had the B tag anyway, some with the Northeast tag some with the Mt. Spokane tag. Kind of a nice deal. Anyone else get this tag?  :IBCOOL: I think this year I'm going to fill the tag with my a pistol. My dad told me I should do it with my spear gun.  :chuckle:
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

If I get a doe early on, it allows me to be picky and wait for a nice buck later in the season.

That's my plan for Mica Peak.  Fill the freezer first, then you wont be twiddling your thumbs in anxiety while that fork horn darts off.

That's a good plan. My wife is the one that pushes me, as soon as I get more burger and steak she is fine. Plus this year I have a Bull tag so I'm going to be even more picky. How much meat can you eat.  :chuckle:

Mine too and it bugs the *censored* out of me.  It goes something like this..... with all the time and money you spend you better get a big one this year,  Then midway through the season its..... "I don't now why you let a deer go after you've spent all this time looking for one"..... Then closer to the end........ "You had better get one this year"  ( she loves venison).   Then if on the last, or second to last day I shoot a little one, I get home and it goes like this...... I CAN'T BELIEVE AFTER HUNTING ALL SEASON YOU SHOT THIS ONE.   :chuckle: :chuckle:  I just can't win.

She has bugged me so much before that I've told her FINE, you want deer steak?  I'll shoot one tomorrow.  Then I did and she said, "How come you didn't shoot a big one"?  :chuckle:  Then I'm kicking myself in the ass for listening to her.

If she's that interested in what you get then throw down $40 for another license and have her with you for the 2nd one

That is what I am doing!  She can go shoot her own!
More than anything, she will see that you do not just walk out there and shoot a deer.
She is leanring that with grouse and now bear.  Not always a sure thing.

That's why its called a "hunt" and not a "shoot."

Thats where the problem starts..... I am the unluckiest person in the world when it comes to drawing tags, I can't even draw the 2nd deer tag. :chuckle:

I did get her to take hunters safety but she only wanted to go out for one day :(   It might not have helped that I drug her all over the damn moutain :chuckle:  But thats another story........ that was for all the times I wanted to just take a nap when I got home from hunting and she didn't think I needed one. O I can here it now....."you don't need a nap, all you did was go hunting all day". :chuckle:

Yeah, I actually meant the whole part about having her get a tag--I shouldn't have called it a "2nd tag"  :sry:

I have similar problems getting my wife out there.  She's okay with moderate hikes even some backpacking, but really getting into hunting is over the top for her.  Its too bad more spouses don't join us in the woods.  Its not like you'd have to go buy a second gun, second pair of binos, etc.  In theory, buying her a $40 tag could mean another 100lbs of venison in the freezer....

In theory...

My wife shot a nice 4pt whitetail last year on her first time out that's the problem, she thinks its easy and doesn't understand why everyone doesn't get one.

First time draw for me on this tag.  Also the first time I put in for it, too.   8)  Drew the late fall turkey up here too.  Nadda for everything else.   :(
Good luck to all!!
