Grandsons 49 degree moose

First I would like to thank those that gave us places to look it put us right on the spot. The weather was really hot andthe roads full of dust so when you stopped to look it took time for the dust to settle. We only saw 4 cows saturday scouting and about the same sunday theey were just out for a little while in the morning and at dark. We started calling and they would answer but they had been called a lot already. We talked to a guy who had the raffle tag and he showed us his bull that he got and had been there calling for two weeks. There were muzzle loader deer hunters on 4 wheelers and only a few moose hunters but it all adds up. We saw a bull at 1000 yards and called him right too us and had to holler to stop him from coming right over us. On the way out just before dark we saw the back end of a moose go around a corner and did;nt see what it was. We went bye the spot and set up on the road about a quarter mile on down the road and tried to call. After about ten minutes a cow stepped into a little hole and looked at us then we saw horns behind her and kept calling. He finally stepped into the hole and we could see him but not all the horns so we sneeked down the road and saw he was tall and had one double brow tine. We asked my grandson what do you think he said perfect and with the conditions and where he was we said shoot. He shot and we saw it hit in the shoulder he was using my 30-378 with 180 accubonds and it turned and fell. It was close to dark and by the time we got up there it was dark but this is the neat part it was only 25 yards above the road and we drug it down tied it on a rope backed up to he bank and were able to get it out whole and it does;nt get better than that. It was 45 inches wide with one double brow not the biggest bull in the woods but my grandson was just so proud and for me that was the best of the whole hunt. Here are some pictures and we just finished cutting everything up and boy what a bunch of meat. The 180 went through the shoulder mushroomed perfect and was on the hide on thje other side and hardley any blood shot at all.

Del,
Congrats again to you and Kyle. Great moose. Sounds like you had a great time.
