Great bucks.  I'm glad your grandpa was able to get a deer like that at his age.

I told you that he would have a great hunt and shoot a nice buck and not have some dumb ahole walking all over him or driving in at daylight and drive down on top of you.

The guy with the story about the 12 year old is just crazy and don't belief a single bit of it.  Maybe they were tresspasing and Stevens came up on them shooting the deer and then I would see him chewing you out.  Don't be jealous that he leased up land turned it into prime mule deer hunting by his food plots and water and no pressure then those areas he leased up started having big bucks on them and everyone bitches because they cant hunt it.  Maybe if you want to have good hunting lands you should start leasing up land or buying it and you would not need to bitch anymore or maybe get out of the truck and do some hiking if you want to kill a big buck on public ground.  just saying

Huntercc, the biggest beef with Stevens was the money spent by WDFW to improve his private land.  Then to get harassed by his employees for hunting the public land bordering his property.  Not to mention the planes pushing deer out of adjacent land onto 201.  Then the increased pressure to all the surrounding areas.  Then convincing adjacent farmers to lease their ground for hunting, when many had been hunting it for generations.  I don't let it get to me anymore because like you said, I could do something similar.  Just know that a lot of money was paid by the taxpayer to get him started, in exchange for the raffle hunts, etc.

Yeah I agree on the wasted money but does that suprise anyone on here?  The department of wildlife is a joke they just want our money then they waste it on all kinds of stupid things.  For example the written permission sign program!!! I have ask thousands of them for permission all over the state only a hand full was I ever able to get permission on they were always full!  And if I asked about the next season full or for 2 seasons away same answer full.  Our permit hunts is another example give us bull/quality bull the bull hunts for muzzleloader suck big time have a way better chance on public ground general seasons.  But then we pay a ton for the special permits. Third example is the multi season deer why let everyone hunt the *censored* out of deer that are low on numbers in most of the state already! $$$$

The old saying $$$$ ain't everything but without its damn hard to hunt this state and produce big bucks every year.  Don't get me wrong I don't watch his every move but if I had the property I would be chasing everyone near it too or at least talking to them and let them know I am watching my property.  That way there wasn't a temptation of crossing the fence to go after those monsters.

Like I said before about my young hunt on the any deer youth raffle in the early 90's.  We had a 40" wide buck that we tried to get a shot at he didn't have me shoot only because it was running hard at 300yards.  We hiked all the way around him and tried to get a shot before we pushed him out of his property he never said anything besides I wish we got a shot at him and that was all he talked about all day but he got me on a monster 4x4  26" wide with kickers and devil points all over his bases.  I was a kid and totally happy with the buck.  Honestly I was spoiled with this buck being it was my 2nd deer and still biggest scoring buck i took.

That's a fantastic attitude, and one that completely aligns itself with the Public Trust Doctrine and the North American model of wildlife management.

Us unwashed serfs will just stand back out of your way.

:yeah: Why are they so special? I will let the game department raffle a few tags to hunt deer on my property if I get my own season that is that long...

I forgot to mention those are some nice bucks. Congats. I'm glad your grandpa was successful. I in no way begrudge anyone for going on one of these hunts I'm glad that they are able to shoot great bucks. The only thing that rubs me wrong is the sweatheart deal between the Buckrun guys and the WDFW.
