Handicap crossbow
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:12:57 AM »
I was just wondering if anybody on here has there handicap crossbow license. I have always wanted to tryy bow hunting but I have a birth defect in on of my arms. my dad is a bow hunter and I have tried his bow before but I dont have enough strength in my bad arm to completely pull it back or even hold it straight. I have read in the regs the process you have to do to be able to hunt with a crossbow. what I dont understand is do I need to get ahold of the wdfw an d have them  send a form to my dr. or how that all works. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can access that information here:

Good Luck and happy hunting.

My father went through the process back in 2008 and Brenda Kain at the WDFW handles all of that. It was very difficult for him to get it approved. Your doctor has to be on board with the whole thing and then they decide. He had to start out with a Draw-Lock first, which is scary in itself. He then submited again and was approved the year before he passed in 2009.  I guess my added info is to get ahold of Brenda Kain at teh WDFW and she will have all the info.

Good Luck.
