Went to the Elephant orphanage
http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/
in Nairobi Kenya today. The orphanage brings in elephants from all over Kenya. Most of the elephants orphans are a result of poaching the mothers or other human interference. They stay in the orphanage for several years and are eventually released back to the wild when ready. The youngest have full time care takers that sleep with them and feed them every 3 hours; one just entered that is 3 weeks old.

That's really cool that they do that. Thank you for putting the pictures up.

Heard one story where the female elephant, that was a resident of the orphanage, returned to show her handler two of her babies. Sounds like she made the transition well.
