did you think of putting crosspieces on the underside of the log to keep it from being rolled or have you found that not to be an issue? looks great btw

well so far it has not been an issue because the log is pretty heavy but that would be an idea im just trying to keep it as natural looking as possible. i would like to start putting apples out there but i dont know any places to get allot of old apples any advice?

ha good luck  make sure to give me some pics when your done. the easiest way to get the squares deep enough is to cut a square straight down in the log then cut lines side by side inside the square then do mores lines vertical so its like a grid. use a cro bar to break the peices out. repeat until deep enough

looks real good royboy, i like that you put the fiance to work... you can go to the south end of kapowsin lake to the old apple orchard and get all kinds of plums and apples, they wont be ripe for a little while but you will have plenty to choose from, you can also go around to places like sumner or down town puyallup and drive around till you find i think a golden delicious tree hangn over the road and load up, if i remember those get ripe pretty soon. if that dont work for ya let me know its a bit of a commute but i work out here in seatac and know a bunch of places you can get apples
