Glad I passed that test, this is the kind of bull you don't want to run into first thing on opening morning.  Definately a trophy but you might be haunted by what if's if you decide not to take him and end up with a smaller bull or what if I had held out even longer could I have turned up the big one.

The one thing throwing me off about this bull is the big brow palms.  You only get those if you are an old bull.  However, from the angle in the photo the palms don't look that long.  I could buy 22" palm lengths, but I would be surprised if they were much longer.  Unless I'm deceived by the photo?

a-men .  Did you put in for AK Musk this year?   That damn Vek keeps sending me info on His dall hunt progress and quite frankly I think I might die.    I just know I am his long lost brother, and one of the few that could keep up with him.

Not the first two weeks. Not big enough.

Wow! You're selective! Remember that Shirias Moose is the smallest subspecies of the moose.
I've been putting in for 10 years, and drew 49 degrees north. The next State record bull well come out of that unit. I have the month of October to hunt. It well be hard but I'd pass on him.

Passing on that guy unless its the last day of the season, a nice bull but definately lacks the WOW factor a big bull should have in my opinion.

I don't know.  That's a bigger bull than you think.  I think he's as big as the other one...

 :yeah:
I would be terrible at field judging a good WA moose. I spent too much time gawking dad's buddies AK pig.

Yeah when one of those AK boys steps out there is kind of a shock factor when you have been chasing Shiras around.  Hell even the cows make you think Damn, thats a big animal.  Thats whats fun about moose hunting or any type of trophy hunting, its what appeals to your senses.  I would have dropped the first one and I would have let the second one walk.  Pope is right, they probably score very similiar, but you know most moose do that are shootable.  What, 30 inches or less seperates a dink from a Booner.  This next one will be a no brainer for you all.  I think its out of Canada though and not a shiras.  Still I know you like looking at moose pics.

I'm saying yea to the one above  :chuckle:

Regarding your first photo.... The fronts kinda give this one away to me.  I didn't pin him at 140 but pushing that.  When their fronts get that big it usually means a pretty decent critter.  The 2nd one seems to have OK fronts/length but seems smaller to me.
