Talk to buckhorn2... he lives there and is fishes there..
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Its not been redhot. Westport is one of the fisheries that can change drastically day by day. "should have been here yesterday" kind of thing, so you never know. Its supposed to be fricken hot here so I say go if the marine forcast is good!

Here's a report from the charters out there.  They usually give a pretty good idea on how things are going and where to go.

Do you have more information on the cow sharks?  Curious for sure?  How big are they?  Are they targeted?  I love shark fishing but haven't heard of much over here in Washington.  Appreciate any information you can provide.

Cohoho
If you tuna fish I would get rigged for Mako's and Threshers.  They are out there and more fun to catch and better eating.  I've even seen Threshers on the red line salmon fishing.  I love shark fishing but its not real popular in Wesport because they are fairly sparse.  Its more like shooting a cougar while elk hunting.

Mako's are great eating but I have never heard of anyone catching one. Also never seen one out there. Plenty of blue sharks but you don't want to eat them.

We have more salmon sharks than people realize, they are good eating too.

I know people keep 7 gills, never heard how they eat though, I assume its not too bad since people seem to keep them from time to time.

I had a giant shark come alongside our boat in May after hosing off some halibut and lingcod blood into the water, I assumed it was a salmon shark though since the water temp read 54 at the time, much too cold for most bigger sharks and it was too big to be a soup fin. I only got a glimpse of it but a couple buddies who saw it first said it was half the length of the boat, which would be 15ft long, I'd say it was 12-13ft conservatively though.
