Skok Fish Do Bite....
« on: August 14, 2008, 12:51:36 PM »
....if you use eggs that is. On Tuesday we got to our spot bright and early and we were armed with bobbers and eggs. We were the only ones there for the first half hour or so, and once it got light out, the fishing was lights out. I had one flosser mouth off to me cause he hooked one on his first cast, right after asking me if I had hooked any on eggs yet. After that, I began to put on a clinic for him, hooking about 8-10 fish and turning back 5-6 and yelling out "RIGHT IN THE MOUTH" on every fish I would hook, before he finally moved downriver to fish with the other snaggers. I ended up releasing about 8 fish before I finally bonked one. I was trying to get a hen, but it started to get crowded, so I decided I would bonk the next bright fish. So, at 8:30 in the morning, the three of us had hooked probably 25 fish, released about 10, and had our limits of nice shiny kings. Our boss on the left, me in the middle, and my buddy on the right.

Pretty funny. Nice job BTW. I love the "Joe Dirt" crowd down there. I'm like you, I hike in way before light and get set up in the hole. I'm usually the first guy with a fish and then you get the "Joe Dirt" guys telling everyone how to fish, we call em "Yella pole Crackers" . I wish I had a video cam to record all the morons for future laughs, but dragging a 25-30 lb king out of there is enough weight  :chuckle:

I have really wanted to get down there but dealing with all the idiots irritates the crap outta me.
How many people did you see in the "hole"?

By the time we left at 8:30 there were probably 10-15 guys, but it is a big hole. The REALLY nice thing, is that there were a lot of guys throwing bobber and eggs, and the snaggers stayed away from us legit guys for the most part.

Hey, Just to clear things up.... Just because you use corkies does NOT clasify you as a "Snagger"   I use them alot and do not snag fish.  :chuckle:

Oh, I know that using corkies doesn't make you a snagger. It's the 12' leader, black corkie, black yarn, and setting the hook every drift that makes these people snaggers.

Just because I use a big treble hook with a drop weight tied to the bottom of the hook and "jig" through the hole does not make me a snagger *censored*!   :chuckle:

Are the nets out yet?

That river is a blast.  I hooked a monster king there a few years ago while chasing dogs withthe fly rod and the son of a bitch spooled me upstream. LOL

The nets go in Sun-Wed, or whenever they feel like it. They net clear through Chum season.

The fish are thick at the hatchery and on both sides of the 101 bridge on Purdy Creek.  Last year the Skoks were tying their nets across the culvert going under 101 completely blocking their way to the hatchery.  It might be tougher for them to do that this year due to them constructing a new bridge.
