MinnKota trolling motor ?

Can the shaft on a trolling motor be shortenned?  I want to use it on my Marshrat but the handle sticks way up in the air.  Any sugestions other than running it really deep.

Yes, they can be shortened and the leads lengthened if need be.  I had it done to my last Minn Kota to use in an aqua pod.  I actually sent it back to Minn Kota an had them do it.  I had the shaft shortened to 18" and had 8' cables placed on it, so I could run the battery under the nose of the boat.
