This is the disturbing thing about liberals, including my sister. If you don't agree with them, they despise you. There is no middle road. Only hate. And, they'll march blindly without any sensible reason to do so. They can have all of the proof in the world that someone they support is the worst for our country and will ignore it because all they can hear is their own twisted mantra.

This in my mind has nothing to do with liberals, it really just has to do with extremest d-bags. We see the same remarks from "conservatives" in regards to gay rights or womens rights. Just pisses me off when people lump an entire group in because of the extremists.I'm also glad to see the positive outpouring that came because of it as well. (I'm sure many of those positive comments were from "liberals" too).

(I'm sure many of those positive comments were from "liberals" too).I'm not at all extreme, politically. I'm a fiscal conservative and a social progressive. I believe in marriage equality, a woman's right to do what she needs with her own body, and that no one belongs in my house with their rules as long as I'm not hurting anyone. I've had many heated discussions with extreme right-wing thinkers about these issues, but have rarely seen the kind of hate and intolerance I see with the extreme left-wingers, even not-so-extreme left wingers. Right wingers may not move from their stance, but my experience has been that they're quite passionate about their key issues, not on hating people who oppose their views. This is not true of extreme liberals. If you don't agree with them, you're ignorant, hateful, and to be despised. Arguments I've had with right wingers have never turned into shouting matches. This is far from true with the extreme left. They can never seem to understand that someone else could think of having a different point of view.

Piano, After many SYM board discussions I know that you aren't on the extremest side of things and we agree on many political and religous topics. I'm just sick of the "liberals" are the devil or "Obama voter kicks puppies and hates America" postings that continue to pop up on this site lately. I'm unhappy with the way this country is being ran just like everyone else but the onesided B.S. that happens here is rediculous. When I vote for someone its because I've done the research on all parties involved and make an educated decision. I dont just vote for D's or R's like the majority of the people here. Every one of these anti Obama / anti liberal postings could be flipped and have a nearly identical posting about the lies and falcities that Romney is vomiting out. And to be honest with you my experiences with both moderate-extremists in both parties have been quite unpleasant. Both sides can't understand how one can believe something thats not in line with their view points. Have you talked a a right wing religionist lately? (Actually I'm sure you have as we've been involved in some of the same SYM board topics) They think were morons and are headed straight to hell to meet "our maker" since we have not accepted Jesus Christ as our lord and savior.Back to the original topic. This is honestly the best thing that could have happened for this girl. In the olympics unless you are in the "big 3" (swimming, track, gymnastics) no one really cares or gives you much attention. She came out of the woodwork because of this and everything is working out pretty positively due to the initial negative backlash. Now she has landed herself on the map in an overall positive light and this has potential to help her out in the long run. In 4 years she may even get a little TV time if she's in the hunt all because of extremist jerks (had a different name in mind then realized this is on the public board).
