Every July/August we get big bucks like this in the neighborhood seeking the shade and nice watered shrubs. This one was under my in-laws deck earlier in the afternoon until my Mother in law scared it when she went out to water her flowers. I got a pic of one under there last summer. I don't think it is a growth on his leg, just a part of the post. he does have a little 2-3 inch sticker on the left side and I think he is a 8x7 if you count it and the brow tines. Here's the one from last year under the deck.

So you haven't accidently backed out of the driveway and ran one over yet??? Or been driving down the road and had the glare from the sun temporarily blind you and cause you to veer and lose control of the vehicle plowing into 1 or 2 or more of them?
