My Remington 700 in 30-06 is primarily my do most anything gun.  Choate stock, Shilen contour 5 barrel with a 1 in 10 twist, Bushnell scope.  It shot well out of the box, but shoots very nice now.  Still tinkering with a good load for it.


Target from last range outing.  Group on the right closest to the bull was Hornady A-max 168 grain factory loads, group on the left was Hornady 168 grain SST factory loads.  The flyer to the far right was actually an SST.  Had a piece of hot brass from the shooter next to me land in my eyeglass frame and I pulled the shot.  Range was 300 yards.



For real small critters I shoot a Savage Mark II in .22LR.  Out of the box rifle with a different Bushnell scope added.  Sighted the rifle at 50 yards then shot a target at 100 using Kentucky windage and Tennessee elevation.    Got tired of shooting at the bull, so I stated shooting at other bullet holes. Fun little gun.



I just picked up a Savage Trophy Hunter in .223.  Nice gun to shoot, and fairly cheap to shoot.  Having a heck of a time with the Nikon BDC scope that came with the gun.  Won't keep a zero for anything.  I've checked the alignment of the scope bases to the barrel, alignment of the bases to each other, alignment of the rings, swapped bases and rings, aligned and lapped new rings.  Once zeroed it shoots fine.  Next time out I have to rezero again.  Sounds like a new scope is needed.  Vortex here I come.  No pics of this one yet.

Hey recurve, if you find ammo in the 62-65 grain range give that a shot. My savage stevens didn't like the 55 grainers but when I started getting a hold of some BVAC loaded with 63 gr soft points my groups got waaaaaay better. I load my own in the sierras now that I know which bullet it likes. Seems most savages in .223 really prefer that range of weight.

well its no nightforce, the scope is a SWFA fixed 10 power
the rifle is a SPS tactical cut to 16"  with a manners T4, but i recently changed the stock to a manners GAT

My buddy had a nightmare Nikon warranty story.  I can't remember the model but almost a $1000.00 scope that malfunctioned.  He contacted service and was instructed to mail in for repair.  3 months later multiple angry phone calls and threats of legal action he was finally given the option "Well just choose a different model and we will send it to you"  I feel three months is totally unacceptable.

If you don't want the scope I'll take it. Not gonna lie though, I'll send it in to nikon, get it fixed or upgraded and trade that one in, or use it as credit.
