The Weyco. so-called "public access corridors" are not legal easements, and also close when Weyerhaeuser says they close.  Unless a county road goes to DNR, King Weyco. has control of YOUR public lands in SW Washington.   Dirty little secret--no legal access to most public land here.

 :yeah:

Last season when they closed the woods a few days into the season, Wey.co left a printed note on my rig, it said something to this effect. As of today the land you are parked on is closed. If your vehicle is parked here tomorrow you will be towed.

When the tree farm is closed to all traffic that includes the access corridors.
If you want to make it,
you can't fake it,
you gotta live it.

I ordered a Capital Forrest map through here on-line, had it in the mail box a few days later, a little over $9.00 total.

Weyco. updated the hotline on Aug 28.  They are still allowing non-motorized access, but will not open any additional gates for hunters.  Only "access cooridors" are open.  These cooridors generally go to public land or public property (like the WDFW Green River fish hatchery, and the 35,000-acre DNR block in the Toutle Unit). Basically this means walk-in & bike-in  only.  This still leaves lots of places to hunt.  Hopefully, they keep it this way and don't shut off walk-in.
PS.  Back-forty bull is bugling!

Hopefully things do not change this weekend.  Weyco had a fire late yesterday afternoon on there Pe Ell tree farm near Baw Faw peak.  15-20 acres multiple helicopters and DNR fire engines were on it  and appear to have gotten a handle on it.  This is just the kind of thing to make them think twice about public access especially with what looks like a big warm up coming next week by some forecasts.  Not good.

Here's a map to where they are located. Doesn't list hours, but I assume Monday thru Friday, 8-4:30, or maybe 5:00. You surely won't be able to get a map this weekend.

Try the "Go Hunt" map on the WDFW website. It shows public lands.

Because of the holiday, Tuesday will be the earlist that you could get in or call to see if they have OTC purchases.

I gotta think we would know if its closed by today, being opening day and with the current forecast I would imagine they have their mind made up. According to the hotline its still open... fingers crossed!
