Capacity of three total.

11. Prohibited firearms/hunting methods:
It is illegal to: • Hunt game birds with a shotgun capable of holding more than three shells.

You can also hunt grouse with a rifle or pistol, in which case there is no capacity limitation. ;)

And FYI, grouse are not considerd an upland bird in Washington.

Then i was asking if the 3 rule is for grouse since they are not upland birds, but i just saw that it says GAME BIRD.

If you're bear hunting with a shotgun there is no limit to how many shells can be in it.

The limit of 3 shells only applies to upland birds and waterfowl.  If you think you need more, time spent at the range would be helpful.   :twocents:

I never take the plug outta mine.... I'm sure I'd forget to put it back in and that'd be the day I'm with a limit of roosters and the warden shows up with my luck....    :chuckle:

Just for clarity - even tho' grouse may not be considered upland birds in Washington state, the three round shotgun limit applies to them none the less.  ;)

The gun cannot be " capable" of holding more than three shells.  It the plug is out and you are checked, you'll most likely get a ticket.
"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
