Meat Hauling trailer DONE!!
« on: August 29, 2012, 06:59:45 PM »
my buddies meat trailer is pretty much done.  he didn't weave it like he was supposed to, but it will do the job.  weighs in on the heavy side at 29 lbs.  will revamp the design for next year to make me a different one.  would like aluminum, but can't weld it with what i have.
can't wait to see how it holds elk.

If you can't weld it why not bolt it and lock tight

Is that for a Bike? How about Brakes? A steep hill and a couple hundred pounds of fresh meat and that thing will run you over. I do like the design and hope you get to fill it!

aint gonna lie.  brakes are an issue when headin downhill.  with another cart i have i carried a whole elk out(quartered) and it was all downhill for 4 miles.  didn't have disc brakes and my pads were going in and out of melting point.  just gotta take it slow.  its no race to get out.
a bike with disc brakes is the key.  no need for them on the trailer.

LOL.  At first glance I thought that it was made with duct tape.

Hopefully you get a chance to test it out this year.

That's funny! I like my new meat wagon I'm making. It's a 300 gallon commercial fish tote with 25x11x12 wheels and tires. And a double hitch for pulling it out if it gets stuck. Of course I'm pulling with a large wheeler or Ranger 6x6. Don't think I could move it with my bike :)
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Nice.  Something like that is on my never ending list of gear to acquire.  For now it's a simple cart and pack frames.
