Who is missing out??
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:42:23 AM »
This is probably the hardest day of the year to be at work. Every year seems to be the same. Plan on going the first week and get swamped at work to the point I cant take of work.
Who else is stuck at home or work?
How long until we get to see some victory pictures?
Good luck all and be safe!

I'm stuck with a torn hamstring, torn meniscus and a bulged disc.  I'm hoping to be able to hit early muzzy elk but not too confident right now.

Not really stuck considering I have till the 24th till school starts up. But decided to sit this opener out because my daughter asked me to take her to her first day of 1st grade. You only see those things once but elk opener is every year.

Hope you heal up and make it out!  :)
a few years ago when my back blew out, I decided to go hunting anyway. Was not a good idea! Took me an hour each morning to get up and crawl out to leave. I could walk into the woods maybe 100 yards and I was done. So most of my trip was either at camp or road hunting. And with my back shot I could feel every bump, every pothole, and every piece of gravel, lol. It was miserable.

I don't get any paid time off, so I'm stuck to just weekends, and maybe an extra day if I can afford it. And this time of the year through Christmas is always the toughest financially for some reason. There has been many times I've had to stay home because I couldn't even afford the gas to go. Wish I could hunt deer and elk earlier in the year after I get my tax returns! That would work out great! :chuckle:
That wasn't me! It was a black Camaro! It went that way!

Stuck at work myself. 5:00 cannot come fast enough, then I've got over a week to run around the woods. All my hunting buddies have been over since Saturday. Seen bulls and bears every day, not to mention cows.

Only a 4 day early season for me, this weekend and next. Already used up my vacation time for this year which is fine, didn't draw anything, next year though when I draw that quality bull tag I'm taking both weeks off.

A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.

Finished putting sod down yesterday in the back yard.  Got the camper back from the shop today (finally) and cleaned it thoroughly.  One last trip to the archery shop tomorrow night to pick up extra arrows and a quick run through of my new bow ( been shooting it for two weeks and just want a good once over  - and maybe dial it down to 75 lbs from 80 which is just a bit much)  One last grocery run Thursday evening and then final pack and gear set up.  Hopefully on the road by Friday evening to continue the quest for a purebred Rosie on the coast through the end of the season.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

I am on hour 36...12 more to go before I head out!  Luckily we have been busy so it has kept my mind off of missing opening day.

Man 2 guys in my camp have already got their tag filled.  1 on opening morning and 1 today.  And Me I am stuck at work until Sunday.  But that second week I am up there for all 6 days.  So good luck to all of you that are in the same boat!

I was hoping to get 4 solid days in this weekend but I will get 3 1/2. Got the truck packed, fueled up  :o, and ready to go. Meeting up with Saylean and the rest of the family, hopefully he has filled his cow tag already.

Next weekend I was hoping for three days but my wife decided it was time for our 6 month old to get dedicated... Dont get me wrong I’m excited for it but in the middle of hunting season.  :bash: :bash: She is beautiful and healthy so i shouldnt complain.
