Toutle Scouting
« on: September 16, 2012, 07:57:43 AM »
Saturday morning  a buddy an I got up at the butt crack of dawn for some elk scouting. In various areas we'd did some callin, we only had one call back. Man was it quite, seen some good rubs but didn't hear much in the vocal dept and only seen 1 cow. Sure hope we get some weather and get this party started. Were making another trip up there sometime in the next few days. Are any of you guys hearing elk?

At the end of the 3000 there is a wallow at the bottom of the bowl.   There was a wolf down their laying next to the wallow.  No collar on it but it was a wolf.  Everyone I talked to in there said the same thing.  The elk were not bugling.

I was up this weekend and heard lots of talking, mostly in the evenings, starting around 4 til I crashed around midnight, heard some in the morning but not as much.  I'll be camped off the 3060 NE of the 5 way, old blue/silver lifted Ford, this Fri thru Wed.  Be happy to help a fellow member out, or buy ya a beer.

Last time I  called, the message said the 4100 was open to the 4200.

The 4200 will take you up into the large block of state land.

Toutle...  Man I have that place dialed in and you will be have a great hunt.  Last year I walked a friend of mine in there with a muzzy cow tag and he was done by morning and we were packing elk.

Fun time...

Howdy all, Went scouting last weekend down in the south part of the Toutle.  Up the 6600 rd (rock creek).  I see most of you are all headed in the north section.  Is that because there are more animals up there or is it just that there is more DNR land that is huntable?

We will be off the 6600 rd after the first real hairpin corner, then a left on the next road.  Big 16x24 wall tent... Camp is always open and beer is usually flowin.  Stop in if any of you are in the south end.  We are leaving today..

Good luck all you muzzie hunters.

God Speed
