A total disgrace!
« on: September 18, 2012, 05:51:18 PM »
I had to stop watching this! Where is love and respect of the resource. What ever their ceremonial purpose is, I want no part of it! What the random beating of the fish at the 2:30 part of the video. A lot of waste going on. :bash:

Capilano River Coho Salmon Indian Reserve Massacre North Vancouver British Columbia
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I honestly can't stand it at all...i've seen tribes empty their nets of humpys, throw every buck on the bank and leave them, and gut the hens for eggs, and leave the fish to rot.  makes me sick.  i highly doubt these ppl are going to use every single one of those fish.  Fishing with a rod and reel isn't that hard....

Wonder why they are keeping them in the pools after they are killed?  Only thing I can think of, is to keep them cool.

Wouldn't it be nice if they could atleast donate the fish to a soup kitchen or something instead of letting them rot on the bank.

I'm with JKEEN on this one.

If they're allowed to harvest them, I'd rather have them selectively hand netting them like that then running giant nets across the river.  At least there is less waste.

I think we need to DNA test those "natives" - some of them look pretty European to me.  :dunno:

I see the big difference as these guys are at least working for the fish where the net guys leave them out and maybe, maybe not check the nets....   :dunno:

There is some similarity as stated in the way dip netting season is on the Kenai and the Copper River-- seems like the assumptions come out as soon as native fishing is mention.

The fish whackers are alittle off stroke and some really aren't sure where to dispatch the fish, seems like excessive whacking for sure..  But other than that, not sure where the disgrace is???

The dip netting in AK on the Kenai used to allow the head of family 25 and each additional member 10..  Copper was a flat 25 or 35 per family, can't recall exactly... Lots of fish lying around in similar pools of water while people were getting their limits...

I have a nephew and niece that are 1/4 native but claim full native rights.  It's shameful.

I think hereditary rights should be lost when the DNA goes below 50%.

I don't see why everyone is getting upset.  People would not be as pissed if it was photos of white dudes doing the same thing in Alaska to get their dipnetted subsistence fish.
