So back to the story, sorry for the delay. We get packed in and all set up to hunt. Funny story on the sleeping pad target that Dave mentioned. I happen to have a pretty good sized bedroll with a nice foam pad in it that every year Dave/ mtcook bellyaches about how huge it is for packing in but boy I sure do sleep good on it. So the fellas, Dave included take the foam pad out of my bedroll while I am in the crapper and leave it in the truck so when I get to camp I find out the joke. So I decide that shooting one of mtcook pads is fair trade for the joke and it actually is a great target, pull the arrows out and you will never know it was shot.
So on to the hunt. Day 1-4 are filled with good encounters and some callins. The elk had been pressured a bit before we got there so we were having to drop way down in the steep nasty stuff. Found some beautiful new spots though and saw some nice bulls. Heres a few more pics then more story after dinner.

Here is a fuzzy still I got on my little video camera of one that tempted Jeff early on the hunt. Dumb little satelite bull that messed us up on a big herd bull with a dandy bark he enjoyed to throw at us until the entire herd ran off.

Every day we left camp in the dark, stayed out all day and hiked back to camp in the dark. Every day but the day we killed the bull we went from ridge top to creek bottom and back up which is 1500' elevation each way usually. My brother and I live at about 150' above sea level so even though we trained for the hunt we huffed and pufffed for a few days with the added elevation. Burning legs and lungs and feet were just everyday life and our costco size bottle of Advil got us through.
