Water Hole Muleys?
« on: August 23, 2008, 09:47:21 PM »
Does anyone on here have success killing muleys over water holes?

I have been watching some bucks near a water hole, but I'm not sure they are actually drinking there.  My hunting partner swears that these deer are like camels and hardly ever drink water.

The cover around the water is super thick, so I'll be setting up a brush blind there.

I've got the normal wind direction pinned down, but I'm just not sure if I should set up on the water hole or 40 yards downwind of it.

What do you guys think?

Brett

Put up a trail cam to see when they are coming in!

It is a desert-type area.  I have a trail cam up right now, and I will check it soon.

The brush is so thick around the water, it was hard to find a good place for the camera.  Maybe I will get some pics to help me figure them out.

If you are having trouble mounting your camera you can always attach it to a piece of pipe or rebar and then push it into the ground where ever you want!  I am going to check my trail cam pics in the little naches this weekend.  Hopefully I am doing this when I am finished! :IBCOOL:  Good luck and post the pics if ya get some.

try setting it up on the trail that goes to the water.  you should get some good pictures from there.

Got some pics of one of the bucks and a doe.

I'll post them over on the trail cam forum.

Thanks for the advice.
