I was hoping there might be someone on here knowledgable in the ways of raccoon hunting that may be able to answer a few questions for me.
1. I mainly plan to hunt at night with a bow and spotlight. If I just leave the spotlight on over the bait will that scare the coons away or do I have to wait until they are in and then flip it on?Also I am assuming from other stuff I have read baiting coons is legal?
2. Referring to previous question... if I do flip the light on do they have a tendency to freeze or take off running?
3. I have a fox pro with 4 or 5 raccoon calls as well as things like woodpecker distress, which Ive heard is sometimes effective. What tend to be the best calls for you, and what are your sets like (short periods of calling or continuous, loud, soft, etc)? Also can you leave the spotlight on at night during calling or will that scare them away ?
4. I know they won't come to the bait during the day but can you call them in during the day?
5. Best bait to use? Right now I have cat food, tuna fish, fish oil and such mixed together.
6. Finally any specific locations or type of terrain or such to call them in or bait them ?
