I can't wait!  Tree stands are hung, muzzy is sighted in, all ready to go!!!  What I'm really hoping is that my buddy's son (12 yo) will get his first deer.

Good luck out there to everyone!

yeah, this is my first year hunting mulies with a muzzleloader. I second that about the rain. most of my unit is shut down, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve to find that elusive doe to fill a second deer tag.

Good luck all and hopefully we see some pictures

I don’t know where to go; the usual spots are all closed.  I guess I’ll drive around and look for a place that isn’t burning, closed or full of smoke.

I would be heck of a lot more excited if it would rain on the west side....

I'd take a little rain myself this weekend.   First year for me hunting with a muzzleloader.

I am excited and wish i was more ready than I am but I have Friday off of work to get my rig loaded and ready.  Hunt only about 50 minutes from home so thats nice.  Setting my sight for a 170 plus Muley.  Drew the multi-season tag this year so the ranch I hunt on is a little bit better in the rifle season but you never know!  Just to get out and play in the Sagebrush will be fun.  Going to be trying out my new Vortex bino's too.  Yahoo!!!! and Get-R-Done!!!!!

Good luck, dvolmer.  You will find that the muzzle loader season is a lot less crowded than the modern season.  And if you do meet another hunter, he will most likely be a "serious hunter", not someone who goes to WalMart and buys a 30-06 and goes out and shoots at everything that moves.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

I agree with the woods being less crowded but I am wondering how many more hunters will be out with all the multi-season permits...

I have muzzleloaded since the early 2000's.  I started when my kids got old enough to hunt and I would go by myself or with buddies Muzzleloading and than would be able to spend the time with my kids in the field during modern and not have to be worried or pressured to hunt myself.  It has worked out great and now my kids are older with the Multi-Season tag I can hunt more.  I have had the multi-season tag now for 3 out of the last 5 years.  i know they have added more tags but I dont think you will see that many more hunters because they didnt get enough people in the draw to give them all out and those that did draw, probably only half or less alctually purchased the tag.  Good hunting to all!!

Even though I will have a bow in my hands still I will be happy for the extended season :chuckle: I have not done much hunting yet. Been to busy with work. About a week and I will caught up :IBCOOL:
