I Shoulda pulled the trigger ..... UPDATE!!
« on: September 27, 2012, 02:55:18 PM »
we leave at 5:00 am, roll into our spot as its hitting light and we get out and start walking in.

first bear hunt
first 5 minutes of the hunt

Walked 50 yards in, and there my target was, around 250 lbs, up on a clear cut hillside i could see his black fluffy face. I make sure I'm not experiencing bear fever and glass him, then with binoc's, yep his fat little ass is waddling down the hill, and yes hes a bear, GREAT because that's a steep hill, and a 150 yards with a little fog, OK hes behind some tall brush for a minute so while he cant see me I can just hop in the 5' deep drainage ditch and stalk in closer, sounds great, right? I'll get closer & I can wait for him to present and BLAMMO!!

He never came out, after 30 minutes of me and my buddy sitting perched dead silent waiting, we enter the area from each side hoping to flush him out. Nope never saw him again he must have slipped out quiet. The moral, I shoulda took the shot, I just assumed why shoot 150 when I can get in to 50  :bash: after it was all over a birdie whistle alerted us by a recurve  bow hunter hiding and watching it all, if your on here, thank you for standing down and allowing us to work before we lost him, good guy  we chatted, shook hands and decided who would go which way as to stay outta each others way 8)

Sure would of been cool to drop him 5 minutes & 50 feet into my very first hunt. Spent the next few hours tripping over scat and hair clumps, its a good area for sure, maybe tonight or tomorrow

They sure are cool to see. I never get tired of it, every sighting is as exciting as the first.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

At least you saw one. :) This year will be my third hunting season and I have yet to see any deer/elk/bear other than out of season, or in areas that it would be illegal to shoot them. One family of deer I swear was mocking me...I was on my way home from hunting last day of my first hunting season and passed half a dozen deer lounging in some guy's front lawn.

Enumclaw?  :o well damn son hit 410 and go east for 15 minutes to Greenwater area, you got plenty of bear there, ALOT of bear. Just drive up the FS roads and sit and wait for daylight and spot the clear cuts, that's how i found this spot among 2-3 others in the last week. Just watch for cats there, GW has an insane population of them I hear  :yike:

Alot of bear hunters get all excited about bear when it 1st starts in August and by the time September rolls around some have tagged out or just quit going when in all reality September is one of the best months to kill a bear ....Up high and in the blueberry meadows ....Now you have a bear fit to eat  :twocents:

Bears are sneaky. I dont know how they do it but they sure have the ability to vanish.

ya tell me about it, he was 75 yards from us, on a hillside, with a little brush wall, poof gone, never heard a thing or saw him. Im sitting here thinking a 30 minute nap and trip back may be in order,

Yogi needs to come home  :cue:
