Florida Gators
« on: September 28, 2012, 05:07:21 PM »
So me and a friend tried something new this year between archery elk and modern deer seasons. Florida gators!!! This was a real fun hunt that we went on with some locals from south florida. Its an awesome experience and one were gonna do again next year! We landed the five footer in the picture and lost several others, one we estimated at 11-12 feet. Can't wait to go back and try to land a big one!!

Thats awesome! I've always wanted to go down south and get a gator.  What were you using to hunt them with?

Initially they snagged them with a weighted treble hook then snagged them with a very large hook on a heavy rope and then a harpoon and bang stick. Personally I'd rather try to get them with bowfishing techniques which is also legal but the guys we were hunting with havnt tried that method.
