Sale at G.I. Joes
« on: August 14, 2008, 06:05:02 PM »
Anybody seen the ad?  They have Federal's Estate Cartridge Inc Game and Target Load on sale for $5 ($4.99) a box.  I think when you buy a case of 10 at Joe's you get like 5% off the case or something.  The add says regular is $5.89.  Is that a decent deal for cannon fodder stock?  Just looking to slowly increase my supply for doomsday  :mgun2:  :mgun2:  :mgun2:

Their signs say you get 10% off the purchase of a case (10 boxes)...off REGULAR RETAIL PRICE. That being said, they've given me the extra 10% off more often than not.

However, walmart still has Federal 1oz loads in 12ga. for $4.67 per box....which about equals the estate shells at Joes, if you get the 10% discount. They are basically the same thing, as Estate is owned by federal.
Look behind the counter at walmart, not in the 100rnd value packs.

I also noticed my local walmart has remington and winchester 1 1/8oz "light trap" loads marked down from $7 to $5.00....look at the "clearance" rack.

I use the estate shells  for new shooters, and for hand-thrown clays....but I wouldn't use 'em at distance. They are good, reliable plinking rounds and I would recommend them for that purpose......
This is coming from a guy who has shot over 2,000rnds of the stuff in the last 12-14months. A year ago, you could buy 'em for $3.99 regular price....or about $39 OTD with the 10% discount.  :o

FWIW, the estate (and often remington) trap loads are on sale at joes pretty much weekly.

Bscman,
Great info. Thanks very much.
Yeah, I remember when Rem, Fed, and Winny were all nice enough to give press releases that they were going to raise prices last Oct.  Smart, paranoid people like me ran out and spent $$$$ on ammo.  It doesn't look like the prices will drop anytime soon so any time I see a good deal I throw a little bit more into the pile.

So I'm not the only person that suffers from paranoia.  :P

Cabela's has Winchester AA as of last week, but very pricey, I think they were $89 a case I have to double check on that.
Progressives are coming for your guns.
What are you going to do?

Well me, I do not have any guns, gave away or sold them 15 years ago.
