The only reason there is an East side is because there is a West Side....

This is very profound!  :chuckle:

I think 90% of Eastsiders would take their chances on becoming a 3rd world country if it meant keeping true "coasties" out.  I also think Eastern Washington would be much better off if the East side had a voice in what goes on in Eastern Washington, and not ruled by Democratic agenda. Eastern Oregon is in the same boat. Lots of good Westsiders in both states, but we just don't have the votes to budge the urban population. I would like to joint teams with Eastern Oregon and make a state, and let the Western OR & WA make their own state. They could let loose all the lions and wolves they want, and let the East side make our own rules.
Same kind of sentiment is on the far reaches of the westside.  Probably just as upset about pugetropolis rule as E worshington.  A lot of the westside wants hounds/baiting back and subarus gone, too.
There is a story of a senator (henry Jackson I think) that was meeting with another candidate at the lounge up in the space needle and said...'look around, from here you can see all the votes you'll ever need!'

I hear you JimmyHoffa, lots of good folks on the Westside away from "Pugetropolis". Sure is a different way of life in the big citys.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

i am from the not so wetside and absolutly love it, you couldnt pay me to live in eastern washington, where ya got scrub brush that you call trees, thats why 90% of the people there have to pay through the nose for a cord of wood, and sorry to say but there aint to much that is beutiful about the eastside except parts of the north east and the blues, the rest of it is desolet wasteland that you would see in a holocast movie.....BUT i will be the first to say that we as a whole should blow seattle right off the friggin map along with the tree huggin leaf lickers, but no worries eastsiders i will be more than happy to stay on the not so wetside and look at these monsters trees and the elusive blacktail and heat my house for free with just a little work cutn my firewood.....

Why the hell is everyone on the westside considered a "coastie"?  I live in Thurston County (in the country), hate liberals, hate the majority of voters in this state, but get labeled as a coastie because I live west of the Pacific Crest Trail.  Hell, it takes me an hour and a half to get to the coast............I usually don't see the coast more than once every other year..........  :dunno:

Anyway, that rant is over.  :sry:   Somebody already said the answer to the OP question.........there are more applicants from the westside, so there are more people that draw eastside elk permits that are "coasties".  (Did I say yet how much I hate that term?)  :P

I live in Washington, I don't claim one side is better than the other and don't consider myself a visitor when I cross the pass and don't consider others visitors when they cross the pass the other way.  All my vehicles have enough horsepower to make it over with no extra effort so I don't even notice it other than the scenery change, the firs change to pines, and my ears pop a bit.  I don't understand the need to separate the state by choosing east elk vs west elk.   Well there is one thing that gets me a little bit,    COUGS SUCK,     GO DAWGS!!!!!!

but do we really want a third-world state as a neighbor?  Nah.

Considering how well armed that third world country is, and how much food it has, I would be nicer.  :)

Not only that, but apparently there are far less people over there and lots of room to hunt!

Everyone forgot ALL the farming that goes on in ewa. I would and do rather have my kids grown up farming and know what a hard days living is than sit in a cubicle wishing I didnt have to drive 1and ahalf hours to go only 3 mile to home. Only wishin about vacation east to relax, tear it up,party all night and LEAVE, Left for someone else to clean up. I know more multi millionaires over hear to shake a stick at! They earned it the tough way! This ranks right up there with californians. Leave us in peace!

You are an F'ing idiot.  You seriously believe this idiotic nonsense that you are typing? I thought at first, ha ha, I'll go along, he has some points, but now you are just sounding like a complete *censored*! Do you really think that everyone on the west side lives in Seattle? Did you have any maps at the school you went to? You should have learned a little Washington state history in your senior year, aka 8th grade. How about farming over here? How about the logging industry? I mean logging, not cutting those little peckerpole pines you guys have over there with your little homelites. Don't you guys over there just survive by selling firewood to each other? Have a good day. Oh, and by the way, I may see you over there at the end of November while I'm hunting with my late season muley tag! Could you get me directions to the desert unit?  :chuckle:
Oh and by the way genius, its " I know more multi millionares than I could shake a stick at" not "to shake a stick at" If you do that, they wont let you hunt on their wheat field. :hello:
