Not that I am whining...

It is my Mom and Dad's 60th Wedding Anniversary Party.  Congrats to them and what an example to their kids.  Many very lean days, weeks, months, and years with 7 kid with never a worry from us kids perspective.   Should be a good party as well...

Sounds to me like you have your priorities straight.  For me, its actually a soccer game and taking my wife out for a date.  Poor timing I suppose, but with our schedules, its been impossible.  She told me I could go, kids told me to go, I chose her.  Might save our marriage...never know.

After two weeks elk hunting, I was circling the dog house a bit. We brought home meat this year so it wasn't so bad. Supposed to leave last night to go east for a week, but did a date night with wife, then family pics this morning and watching the kids tonight so the wife can go have some girl time. Plus they are joining me on Thursday over at the property.
I should gain a couple brownie points on this one.

So nice to see i'm not the only one missing out, did the date night wifey thing with some wine and 5 hours of Dexter. Should make for a few pts in her book.
Some animals WERE harmed in the making of this Hunter. They were also dragged through the dirt, butchered and tasted delicious fried with butter and bacon.

I have missed opening day for the last 19 years.....................daughter was born on the 12th of Oct. Does not bother me a bit.

But don't tell me I have to miss the late hunt..............that would make me a little grumpy and not a pleasure to be around.  :chuckle:
Just one more day

Heading out in a few minutes to the first of 2 soccer games my oldest has today.  I'll get an evening hunt in, but man it felt weird waking up in my house today instead of the woods

This is the first opener I have missed in 10 years, right now I'm sitting in a class room for a boiler class I have to take for work and all I can think about is being out in the woods right now instead of here. Doesn't help that all my friends on Facebook keep posting stuff about being out hunting the opener today...makes a grown man want to cry almost.

Im glad some of u can make family time first.  Some of us r lucky that both hunt but family still has to come first.  Im not out this morning because I have a second deer tag for whitetail doe in Alta and it makes more sense to go the second weekend.  We had to get a mid on the road with a vehicle.  I don't want her driving my mustang convertable and we need the surb for the trip and the truck is out of commission due to a tree falling on the windshield and not replaced yet.  Id b out helping my daughter but she has to work 7 days a week now helping elderly folks.  There is always pheasants to shoot.  Just waiting for Larry to get home from fishing.  First for me not going out.on the opener.

Took the boy out for a little while this morning...all my spots are closed to fire danger as well. To make things worse for him we see a nice large body two point run across the road onto private property! We admired him until he dissapeared and then headed home for breakfast. I know it is very tough for him since he has waited all year for opening day...hopefully we get some more rain and they open the woods back up. Headed for his football game this afternoon. Good luck to those who are able to get out there and hunt anp post them pics up!!! :)

I have the Alta tag as well. Leaving in the morning early hoping to tag that doe out right away so we can go chase the big boys. Just gotta find some whitetails
