Only one week until my big bull hunt!
« on: October 15, 2012, 03:58:27 PM »
Work couldn't be slower!  :bash:
But all I can think about is bull elk! Next Monday morning ill be loading my dads old 30.06 that he used to kill his big bull elk from back in '82 and ill be hiking hard in search of trophy. I have the whole elk season off if needed and hope my body can take the beating its going to get! I'm hoping it'll be a hunt ill never forget!

Maverick..good luck.  If you get in a bind go to Saddle butte trail head of grouse flats rd.  That elk camp there is full of great guys that can give you some advice.  I do know someone in there party did draw same permit however.  If you get weather elk will come down in there from Lick Creek.  Also waiting until spike season will allow you to ask spike hunters if they are seeing any big bulls and where.  Be patient.  Have funa nd like Turkeyman said ..take lots of pics.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Don't forget- your "big bull" permit is also valid for a spike.

But we call it a big bull permit because thats the goal! Thanks for the advice yelp! The goal is a 320 plus bull. Is that a good range or should I be aiming higher in that unit?
