Switching to Archery

Well I made the decision to do it.

I switched from modern to muzzleloading to escape crowds.  Hunting the Northeast front-stuffing hasn't been much fun though, not enough time to keep it fun for the wife and I.  It was a good four year stint and I harvested some great animals, including my first bear.  Moving on...

I'm looking at the Bear Encounter RTH 50-60 lbs.  I've handled the bow and I shoot 27.5" draw length.

Is there anything functionally wrong with this bow?  I know there are inumerable preferences and I'm not interested in that, I just need to know if anyone has had real problems with it?

Thanks guys.  Just wanted to make sure there were no red flags on this bow. 

I couldn't find anything online but I figured that it'd be better to get a sign-off from Hunt Wa before I before I pulled the trigger...er, I mean... release.

bows do shot differently and most top line bows have the power and accuracy.  However IMO how a bow shoots is very subjective.  I recently shot that bear bow and it did not feel right.  seems a little slow and draw cycle a little heavier than i am used to.  i did not shoot what i consider at nice group at 20 yards.  shoot a lot of bows and don't rule out mid level bows.  If you are a novice shooter things like a "brace height"  around 7; drop away rest, decent sight can really improve your consistency and accuracy.  again there is no equipment that can replace practice and learning about good shot placement.  A good range finder with shooting angle calculator for archery is another must have piece of equipment.  you are going to love bow hunting.  No crowds.  hunting in tropical like weather. get your meat and trophy in before the general season rush.  gives you time to focus on other big game later in the season.  elk archery seasons are short but a good time of year to hunt.  does require some scounting and hunting higher but i have seen much more elk during archery seasons vs modern season.

My buddy shot the new bear and he liked it. He doesn't shoot it now just because he got sponsored. I like hoyt myself but any new bow out on the market is gonna do just fine.
