WDFW At their finest
« on: October 19, 2012, 01:08:56 PM »
I recently had the inside on a guy that's group shot three elk all of which were legitimately tagged. He got all three of them home and let them sit in a barn for a whole week in 70 degree weather and then when he got around to checking on them they were all rotten. As in when he pulled up to the house you could smell the animals in the back of the pickup from more than 30 yards away. So after wrestling over what to do I ended up calling my local game warden and was informed that all the game wardens in the area were in Vancouver for some training.

How does this make since being that we are right in the middle of modern firearm season. Whoever makes dates for training's, maybe they should think about looking at your hunting pamphlet for conflicting dates. JUST A THOUGHT.

Does seem stupid unless it was some kind of emergency training that couldn't wait. Priorities - some people have the right ones, some don't.

They're probably getting trained on the new wolf plan.

Why didn't you call the local sheriff, they may have been able to help or direct your concern to another LE.

The point is that there is nobody around during the most hunted season in our state. especially in klickitat county. Also most county mounties dont know how to deal with most game violations.

I would have hung up and immediately dialed 911. I would have also called Olympia to validate the story that all officers are in training. Surely there are some available.
