Trapping Class
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:38:42 PM »
Where can I find a Trappers education class? I have looked on the wdfw site and I can't find any. I live in Olympia around here would be nice, thanks for input.

Good timing on your question. Bruce and I spoke this weekend about holding a class in Olympia. We haven't decided what day but are working on it. Info will be posted here and at WAtrappers.com.

Is this for WCO? Unless things changed don't you just take the test for recreational? My 14 yr old wants to get his license this year so I'm interested also.

So you need to take a class now for recreational? Or is this just a voluntary thing?

I don't know anything about trapping regulations but my 16yr old son wants to start trapping Bobcats this winter. Would this be the class that he would need to take, to legally live trap Bobcats? How many days is the class and is it on weekends? Thanks for any help.

Yeah I'm just 15 and I don't know much about trapping, would this be what I need for just trapping here and there on state public land? And what does wco stand for?

WCO    wildlife control operator  yes a class with wdfw must be taken to obtain this license, and yes you just take a class to get a recreational trapping license. Although I encourage young trappers to try and locate a wise old trapper and beg like hell to go out with him and learn everything you can. There is no better education than experience

Any one that is interested in taking the Trapper Education class so that they can get their Trapping License needs to call George Brady (509)322-6844  . He is the coordinator for the entire program. Call him, he'll put you on the list and I guarantee you we will get you certified this year if we have to do it one on one.

Very important! We can't make arrangements for you if we don't know who and where you are!!!!!!

There is a class scheduled for Dec in Tenino. There is a thread for it somewhere.
