Boat repower project
« on: October 24, 2012, 08:15:14 AM »
Me and engines this year aren't getting along!  :bash:

My Bayliner's high hour 350 chevy engine went to zero oil pressure on me recently.  Started knocking, so it's coming out.  I have a long block ordered up and on the way, but little free time to do the swap.  Boat's on a trailer now and I don't have the equipment handy to lift out the motor and slide the new one in (that's going to be a two-part process, as I need to swap all the tin and manifolds first, then paint the motor and the bilge since I'll have the room to do it).

Thought I'd throw this out there - any fellow Hunt-Wa'ers in the Everett area have a tall chainfall that they would let me have a few hours access to a couple of times over the next few weeks?  Happy to pay for the privilege.  Maybe there's a marine mech on here that wants to make some side cash and will do the swap for me for some cash and an invite to go crabbing when it's all done?

Thanks guys-

I'd be absolutely willing to help you out if your interested in coming to Port Angeles, I have a shop with air tools and an engine hoist also an engine stand etc... and have done several engine swaps though I am no marine mechanic I still get it done !!

I'm still going to take you up on the walleye fishing sometime too !!!

Really appreciate the offer - if I was just going to do a straight R&R I'd be all over it.  But I'm going to clean/paint my bilges, paint the motor after I swap the tin, etc, so it would be a week or so of just sitting in the shop between pulling it out and dropping the new one in.  I hate to leave my projects in somebody else's way - they never go as fast as you think they will.

I'm glad you still remember the walleye trip.  Really unfortunate about not getting that together in time... but when the spring bite is on at Banks, we'll be sure to hit it this year.
