Advice: Who can I get ahold of to get info on property?
« on: October 24, 2012, 05:05:39 PM »
Ok, it was a horrible tittle, sorry didn't know how to word it. Anyway, there is a decent sized piece of gated property close to my house. It is a white gate with no signs at all, so I have no idea who owns the land. Not sure if I can/will hunt it just curious about it. Who can I contact to find out who owns it?

The county assessor's office is where I would start.

The property is in Thurston county. Thanks for the advice, I will give the assessor a call tomorrow.

http://www.geodata.org/online.htm

Scroll down to where it says main map and click.  Then use the pop up window to zoom in.  Cross reference roads with google maps and when you get close enough, click the identify tab and click the parcel you want to see and it should pop up with the owner

Keep zooming in until you get the map with the orange lines.  Those are the parcels

Most counties have something like this.  Thurston and Mason use the same style and it's one of the better ones.  Just google your county along with GIS.  "Thurston GIS".  Sometimes you'll need to google Thurston Assessor because the maps are there.  I've only ran into 2 counties I've searched in Washington that didn't have a GIS map like this.  Some you'll only get a parcel number and have to cross reference the parcel number at the assessors website but, you can nearly always get the info you're looking for in Washington with a GIS map

Try this link.  I had the same question earlier and my buddy who is a Warden gave me this link.  Lots of good info.
