While w/t hunting sitting in a field a coyote came out across the field. We were playing with our range finders the day before and where he stopped facing away from me was in the 420 yd area. I didn't have my range finder w/me at the time. With about 10 mins left until shooting hr was over and hadn’t seen a deer I decided to try and get him. I shoot left handed but I couldn’t get a good rest so I shot right handed. I had my gun on a disk w/a bipod. I tucked a jacket under the butt. I have a new scope w/yardage lines and I knew the 300yd line was right on so I put the 400 crosshair on him and squeezed it off. Flame and dirt kicked up where he was at. I shoot a 7mm rem. Mag. With hand loads, 160 gr nosler accubonds 2860 fps. It was too dark to tell if I got him. So the next day after hunting all morning I went down to the field to see if I got him. Sure enough there he lay dead. I ranged it back to the disk 435yds. My longest confirmed kill to date. I’ve shot up 700yds and came close but no body. Love this gun.
Sitting on a ridge line void of any deer activity for 6 hours.... A yote popped out atop the opposite ridge walking directly toward me.... A quick range put him at the 723 yard mark... By the time I got settled in and had a guesstimated hold over it was a lot closer... First shot hit between it's legs.... Stopped right there looking straight in my direction.... Held a little higher and it ate a 243, 100 grain, Hornady BTSP... Ranged at 636 yards where it layed....
