File size vent
« on: November 16, 2012, 08:58:14 AM »
Working on this calender project, and I bust my ass to get Full sized pics for best resolution possible.  THen these wankers at the publishing company tell me my file size is too big.   So what.......compress and lose resolution or choose a different pic I guess.  Cropping is out of the question.    :bash:

Or, find a different publisher?  It would suck to reduce the quality of your awesome photos.

A neighbor does a yearly Decatur Island calendar and has to have the file size down as well, lots of slightly fuzzy stuff.  Maybe these print shops need to get with the times and realize that there are a lot of cameras out there that have huge capabilities.

I was going to upgrade and get a camera with a bigger mb, but didn't and boy am I glad.   Bigger isn't always better.   I noticed on here how much my images get distorted and fuzzy by reducing them for the forum, so I hesitated.

Bone, Do you post process with Photoshop?
What format are you delivering to them?

I know if you open a .JPG in Photoshop and "save As" in native Photoshop .PSD, the file can be up to ten times the size of the original .JPG.

I just opened a 173KB .JPG pic in Photoshop, saved it as a .PSD, it is now at 1,266KB with no editing.

Can you not reduce the size without compression???   Say going from 300 pixels to 200?  the naked eye can not tell the difference according to the experts.   :dunno: :dunno:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
