Early archery season for me.  I like to catch them while they're still in their summer patterns

I passed up smaller bucks in both this year, but i honestly feel like more mature BT's are killed in the 4 days of late buck than the earlier season. That's usually when my phone starts blowing up with masher blacktail forwards.

The last 4 days of the regular season are my favorite.  Weather is usually better and I have shot some of my best bucks on Halloween.

I prefer the last 3 or 4 days of the regular season.

A question I have: why do people call the late blacktail season "late buck"?

October 30 and 31 seem to be the most productive days for me over the years.

Since the late modern  season in this part of the state is by permit only, I had to vote regular season.

That's a tough call... some years end of regular season and some years late buck... I can tell you one thing for certain, sadly elk season is the best for big BT buck sightings

I haven't been able to ever truly hunt late buck, I can't stop myself from shooting a buck during general. I have went out with some friends for late buck and hardly ever see anything. This year they hammered them during late buck, and lots of good ones. Had me wishing I had a little better self control on the trigger finger. Again.

I haven't needed to hunt late buck in 17 years so I kind of forget what it's like. Post rut from what I remember up here.

Halloween.  Problem is,  sometimes it's a bit of a scramble to get the buck out of the woods and get home in time to Trick-or Treat with the kids.

I think the last three or four days of October could only be rivaled by the first week of November. But we'll never know.

I suspect the term started back when there used to be a "doe day"; then people started calling those last 4 days "late buck" to distinguish that late deer one day season when you could kill does.  :dunno:

Late Buck for me. I saw more deer the first day of Late Buck than all of the general rifle season. I set up camp two days before Modern Firearm Elk Season and hunt straight through Late Buck.

For those that remember when there was a late hunt and it wasnt a special permit draw in those GMU's this poll should be reworded to ask when most of the bucks were taken.

I believe this poll is geared more towards those who hunt units that still have general late seasons.
