I'm going to go with 386, the hint said it was deceptive so I'll go a little higher.  Don't think he's 400 but probably pretty darn close.

O.K. I'm back!! OMG!, I had no idea this would be so popular. This was an amazing hunt and I can tell you , I am in good shape but it literally kicked my ars  :chuckle:. I put on so many miles up and down canyons just to check on certain wallows, bulls etc.. This is not a hunt for for the every day Joe let me tell ya.
Anyway , I do have to apologize to Archery288 (Jon) I was giving him and M_ray both updates to post and I had forgot about him after a few days, I completely spaced it, I had thought that he headed out to his elk hunt for some stupid reason . I knew he wasnt heading out till this weekend :bash:. Sorry bout that Jon. I felt bad when I talked to you yesterday man.

Secondly I have to thank Bowsandhose (Travis) and hid father (Jerry) I think thats right , for letting me camp with them and share in one heck of an experiance with them. They are two classy people that I really enjoyed being around, It really made the hunt 100 times better than it was! We had some good times, good laughs, and good hunts!! I have to say, Travis aka Bowsandhose is an ANIMAL!! When he left me for the first pack of meat I thought I wouldnt see him till I got back to the truck at dark. I had to get the cape and head taken care of and on the pack so I could get it out with my trip to the truck. I tell ya, I was wrong! I fought that thing up the hill for 40 yards and got up ended twice by them damn horns :chuckle: Next thing you know here comes Travis running down the hill with a sandwich and water  :chuckle: What a site that was. Actually it was more like sliding on his butt on down to me. He grabbed another load of meat and I tried again with the horns, again they were dragging the ground , I wanted to pack them out to the truck so bad , Im just not tall enough  :chuckle: Travis took them and showed me what kind of an animal this Fire Fighting machine really was  :chuckle: I didnt think we were going to get them horns through that alder brush (tag alder?). He just beared down gritted his teeth and took off like a shot. I couldnt believe he could get up the hill so fast with that load! Thank you Travis!!

Next I wanted to thank the crazy guys from Moscow Idaho for driving down and helping out! I couldnt believe they would come down at a drop of the hat like that! That was pretty danged awesome if you ask me! I couldnt believe it when I got to the top of the hell hole ridge here were these 2 yahoos with big huge smiles and water  and a snack for me!! They just wanted to be part of such a great experiance!Man was I estatic for that!! I cant beleive after we got all the meat out and got back to camp and took more pictures and had the other camps come up and see what the camotion was all about. They didnt stay, they had a tailgate party to be at the next day! :chuckle: Thanks again Michael and the other Travis! You guys saved me another trip into the hell hole!

Anyway, I have alot of people to thank for the help and info I have gotten. I could probably write 10 pages about that alone. I have to take a break for a bit and then I will recap the day before and the day of the kill and the score on the bull!........

Of course this is popular, that was one hell of a bull man and you did it like it should be done.  I think I have already congratulated you twice but a third time is in order.  You've set the bar this year for big bulls.  I hope I fine one that is at least a junior to him.  can't wait to talk taxidermy about him.  It sounds like Travis could have packed the whole hide out.  FULL MOUNT.  :chuckle:  again WELL DONE!

Way cool. I've called in big bulls, could have killed them, but didn't draw a tag. It's hard work and you were rewarded with an awesome bull. Not to down play your bull, I'll give him 270.

Ya I think he probably could have Bone! :chuckle: I though tabout a lifesize for about a second but the situation at hand didnt allow me to . Oh well, I will get a lifesize eventually once I draw my Arizona, or New Mexico tag!

OK, here is what I had guessed my bull to score, when I located hime the day before I instantly thought he was pushin 380, after I added everything up I came up with 376 gross. I miss judged the back tine lengths by 2 1/4 and 3 inches each  :bash: I thought they were 17 inches long but ended up 14 6/8 and 14. So he actually green scores 370 1/8 and nets 364 ! I guess I was pretty close for field judging him! Just like Bowsandhose dad told me , a few days earlier, you can probably take 10 inches off the enitial guesses for excitement  :chuckle:!

Score is irrelevant with this bull Charlie.  He is awesome in every aspect and you deserve a lot of credit for what you have done.  I enjoyed following this thread from the beginning and wish I could have been there to help!  It was truly an awesome ride and  cannot wait to see the rest of the photos and video and the finished mount!

Congratulations again!

Charlie, Great job man and great bull! Unless you've been in that deep deep nasty country its hard to believe how hard it would be to pack an elk upout of there. He is a beauty and well earned. The score is a bonus. When I think back on my hunt I only think about the good times and the hunt not what he scores, but the magazines like the numbers! GOod job I am headed to Idaho for a week . Congratulations Bucklucky, That is one fine bull! Been reading this thread sine it started. Wishing I could still hunt half that hard. This old body says no way. I could go down that hill but it would be Life Flight in short order if I tried going up!! You should be very PROUD of what you have done,Bull of a lifetime, the hard way, the Barta way,LOL. This old fart loves to read this kind of stuff and remember when I was young and wished I had takin better care of myself.
