the way i read the game regs on a double barrel muzzy.  only one barrel can be loaded while hunting, so what is the advantage of packing the extra barrel and pounds  ?       mike w

I thought both could be loaded but only 1 could be capped.

That's the way I understand it. But I have never heard of anyone hunting in this state with a double barrel muzzleloader.

As mentioned, only one can be loaded, defined by having powder, projectile, AND cap.

A double would be a good idea for a quicker follow up shot, but adds a lot of weight to the gun.

There is a Kodiak double .58 in the classifieds forum, and they come up on GB quite often.  Weight is 10lbs according to this:

I seen a guy that had a double barrel CVA I think it was, in Cowichie a few years ago during muzzy elk... We talked it up for a few and I checked out his gun.. Nice... Kinda heavy.. I'd say over 10#... I asked him if he's ever needed to use the 2nd barrel... He said not yet never shot an animal with it...  We went our seperate ways... I jumped a spike and hit him good I thought @ 200 yards from where we split.... Then I hear boom @ 30 seconds later boom... Knew it was him and figured he put the spike down.... Follow the tracks... No blood what so ever... To him standing over an elk... Spike bull... He said he rushed the first shot, knew he had another just incase...He missed twice... My high lung shot was the only hole in the elk... Nice guy.. But he said he was probably better off with his Hawken and was a little pissed!!!
