Somebody needs to contact all the environmentalist groups and send them up there. I am not a big fan of environmentalists, but one thing I do know; when they ban together over a cause they beleive in, they usually succeed. They recently stopped the Japanese from whale hunting off the coast of Antartica in international waters, which have no laws aganist killing whales (until now). Send all the major new stations up there out of Seattle, Spokane, and Wenatchee. The Yakamas are more than aware this type of abuse is going on. We need to get this put on somebody's radar in Olympia, who cares and is willing to take it across the country. This type of thing happens all over the US. The US Supreme Court needs to step in and work with tribal leaders to stop this. They need to be held accountable is OUR courts...not the tribal courts, who don't give a *censored*!

The democrats are well supported by tribes, and  be careful what you suggest. You could end up with an initiative to ban deer hunting if the wrong folks get the ball rolling.   And  Members of the environmental religion  have and continue to use us to further their agendas, until their crosshairs turn to our hobbies and passions and how they can stop them. Mob (democracy) rule is how they think, and there is a BIG mob in Pugetropolis!

It's illegal for them to sell the meat anyway, by their own laws.

I don't want them killing does either.

So I started reading this thread and skimmed through 8 pages so forgive me if my reply has already been metioned but I couldnt bear to read all 18 pages!! In teh 8 pages I did read it went from the real problem int eh entiat right now with the natives shooting bucks on the winter grounds to arguing about disabled hunter, politics, getting rid of special seasons, not hunting on Sundays and on and on and who know what I missed in the other ten pages.

Bottom line is whether its natives or poachers causing the problem we need to protect our game animals on the winter range when they are most succeptible. In September and October they dont need this protection because they are mostly in areas where they can fend for themselves in less accessible areas. I have hunted the entiat off and on since I was a kid so I know a little about that country and how cut up with roads it is. I hunted above Twisp 15 years ago on a deer rut tag and there was a road system that had a sign on it that stated the road would be gated shut on a certain date for winter migration protection. This is what the Entiat needs without a doubt. Whether it be on Nov 1st every year or when it snows a foot ,close access to all those canyon roads like Crum, Potato, Mud etc. and leave it shut until May1. No quads no snowmobiles. Walkin or ride a horse. That will protect the game during the winter and keep out the shed hunters from harrassing them in the spring and allow people to still enjoy that country during the rest of the year as they have for the last century.

I own a fencing company with my brother and we would happily sponsor a gate and arrange for it to be put in! nwhunter

I would be all over that. I would donate my time as labor to help put up gates. That means they don't get keys either great idea

I would too if there was a way to get it done.

Its time the tribes took a good look at the treaty and ask themselves if this is really what the ancestors had in mind, I don;t believe even they would agree with what is happening.

If they won't do anything about this then its time to take a look at other avenues, there are a few things that would make them open their eyes.

Nwhunter, great idea, you would get a ton of volunteers if we could ever get that approved. And why wouldn't it get approved???? I hope someone here knows how to get that ball rolling, and nwhunter, you have my donation to help pay for that gate and your time. The natives will NEVER voluntarily give up any part of their rights to slaughter game, you know it's mostly just to get under our skin. I still wish we could play cowboys and Indians again, this time NO treaty. Not a threat, just my feelings right now so no need to ban me. I erased about 3 sentences because I'm pretty sure they would have banned me from this site. Lock the gates in all wintering areas state wide!!!
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Actually there are a few gates like that and the indians don't get keys to them either, like some have said.

Dec. 1st would work, everyone will be done hunting in there by then except for the Incentive, Raffle and Auction tag holders, but if you have a tag like that I'm sure you would not have a issue walking in knowing the heard has not been slaughtered because of it.
