I had a 2010 F150 4.6. Worthless. Wouldn't pull my trailer without overheating big time. Gutless pulling anything. Bought a 2011 Chevy LT Supercrew, 5.3, OMG. what a difference. Heated mirrors, Sirius radio, OnStar, comfy with about 14.9 mpg. I have big tires on it with Flow Master dual exhaust, airbags for towing too.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Buy a Tundra and be done with it :tup:  Seriously though, if you haven't test driven one you should take one for a spin before you make up your mind.

What size tires are you running? I just bought a 2011 Crew Cab LT as well.

285/70/17 I also had the 2 inch spacer installed in the front. My nice chrome wheels rub a bit on my mud flaps because of the offset.

i got the 2012 F250 6.7 diesel...love it.  plenty of power/torque for me.  pulls my 26' trailer with no problem.   this decision made after 4 mos of bickering back and forth with dodge/chevy/ford.  plenty of room.  didn't get all the bells and whistles but you could for the right $$$... oh, and i'm running 35's and get about 15-17mpg city, 17-19mpg hiway...depending on if i can keep my foot out the pedal.   :IBCOOL:

I am running 295/70/18 with a 4" lift. Waiting to fill up tonight to check my mpg.

I love my all black 2007 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab.  6.0ltr vortecMAX LTZ.  Way more truck than I intended to buy (too many fancy options), but I got a deal I couldn't pass up.  Loving the heated leather seats after a long morning of steelheading in the river while it's 25 degrees out.  I know, I'm getting old and sissified...  But I won't lie.  I like the seats.  Sun roof is a nice touch as well.  And my wife loves it when I take her out on dates in it.  It cleans up nice for a night on the town, and yet handles the back roads and mud just fine.

We did a road trip this fall from WA to Montana and Wyoming and back.  Then again a few weeks ago from WA to California to Tucson, AZ and back (including a nasty crossing at Grants Pass).  Truck was awesome.  I never got sore or uncomfortable in the seats.  Best road trip vehicle I've ever been in.  I've only had it a few years now. But it will be pushing 145k miles, and between me and the previous owner, it has never had an issue.

The only down side has been the gas mileage.  The last road trip, where I did nearly all highway miles (but averaging 75-80mph), we ohly got 14mpg.  But I love the power and responsiveness, so I can deal with that  :tup:

I did it before I bought my new truck. I would have had to average 18+mpg with a diesel just to break even on fuel costs. When you start to factor in the initial purchase price and other maintenance (mainly oil changes) it takes a long time for the diesel to pay for itself.

The main reason to own a deisel is for long hauls and towing... Thats it. (at least in trucks)  Most people make a comprimise when it comes to owning a full size deisel. What many people should do is buy a deisel and have use some econocar for communting... Short haul in a 3/4 1ton 4x4 deisel is not what they are designed for. Its kinda like using a sledgehammer to swat a fly.  :twocents:
